2012 - Great Year

This year sure has been a great year. Watching Easton grow and become a little toddler has been so exciting. He sure has become our amazing little boy and we are so thankful and blessed to have him a part of our lives. God truely has blessed us with an amazing little boy who not only challenges us at times but makes our life better.  It's crazy how much he's grown and how much he's talking and communicating. It's so much easier now that he's talking for him to tell us what he needs/wants. We call him "Mr Repeat". He will almost always repeat everything you say. You sure do have to be careful when you're talking around him. One day i accidentally said "darn it"...what does the little pickle do....he says "darn it"..lol..it was too cute to not laugh and smile. Sometimes he says the funniest little things. With me being pregnant and my tummy getting bigger he calls my tummy a basketball...i guess you can kind of say it looks like a basketball. He loves to kiss and hug my belly as well or give zerberts on it. It's so cute. I love how cute he is and his little personality.

Some of the fun and exciting things that happened over the year:
1.) Found out we were expecting baby K #2
2.) Jesse's Families reunion
3.) Family adult vacation to Branson MO with my family
4.) Easton visiting the Herman Farm for a week over the summer with his cousins
5.) Jesse getting a new job with Interstate Batteries and excelling in his new position
6.) Jesse buying our first "new" vehicle together
7.) Easton gave up his paci pal cold turkey at 23 months and moved to his toddler bed

What a great year it's been. I am so excited to see how next year will be with the arrival of baby K #2. I sure do hope Easton adjusts well to his little brother/sister.

We are only weeks away from Baby K's arrival. This pregnancy has really gone by quickly. Seems like it was just yesterday that we were at the Dr's office hearing the heart beat and seeing him/her on the ultra sound. Crazy how time just flys by. I feel like there are so many things to get accomplished and do before this baby gets here. For one if it's a girl we are so unprepared as in clothes and such. Since Easton was born in October basically if we were to have a boy they would be around the same season so we could utilize Easton's baby clothes for baby K. Deep down though i'm really hoping for a little girl. I think Jesse on the other hand would enjoy another little boy so Easton could grow up with a little brother....plus i think Jesse is thinking about the expense of having a girl considering i went overboard on buying clothes for Easton...i couldn't even imagine all the clothes and accessories i would buy i we were to have a little girl.

Christmas was so different this year with me being close to my due date around Christmas. Having to miss Jesse's families Christmas due to me not being able to travel put a damper on our holidays. We were able to enjoy an early Christmas with my family but will have to post pone Jesse's families Christmas until after Baby K arrives. The stress of traveling and possibly encountering bad weather and possibly delivering early had me really nervous about traveling outside the DSM area. I'd rather play it safe and stay home just in case I were to go into labor early. Thanksfully Jesse agreed to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas here in Pleasant Hill with me and Easton instead of traveling back home to be with his family.

The weekend before Christmas Jesse got some rather sad news that his dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and phenomia. He got the call from his brother on Saturday, December 22nd and on Sunday morning he got a text saying his "real" dad had passed away. For us to get the news and then him pass the next day was crazy. Apparently he had been feeling sick and went in the Thursday before and that is when they diagnosed him with basically stage 4 lung cancer. It's amazing how quickly someone deteriates when they've gotten that far in the stage. Even though Jesse and his "real" dad weren't close I let him decide whether or not we were going to go back for the funeral. I know he really didn't want to go back but I strongly encouraged him that it would be good to go back to support the family and his brother since his brother was closer to his dad than Jesse ever was. Amazingly Jesse did decide that we were going to go back for the funeral. I'm glad he made that decision. I wouldn't want him regretting not going back for his dad's funeral later on. The funeral was on Thursday the 27th of December. I decided to take a couple days of bereavement from work and Jesse was able to get the day off as well.
Even though i wasn't suppose to travel i did risk traveling back for the funeral. Easton also came with us even though he was under the weather. Thankfully Paige was off on Christmas break so she could watch him while we attended the funeral. Unfortunately the weather was not the greatest. It snowed over 4 inches while we were there so the traveling was not ideal. With Jesse not being close to his dad i had never met anyone on that side of the family let alone his dad. I didn't even know his dad's name until the he passed away. There were a lot of people that attended his dad's funeral. Jesse definitely has traits from his dad. Now i know what Jesse will look like when he's older...lol...Even though the day was a quick one with crappy weather and getting stuck in the cemetary in the limo...it turned out to be a good day. We had the celebration of life where i met all his other side of the family at his dad's favorite bar. Never quite been to a bar after a funeral but that's how he wanted it i guess. Donna Mae i think was very appreciative that Jesse made it to the funeral. It was good seeing everyone including Jason and his family and visiting with Tom and Marla for a little bit. Easton was able to open his Christmas presents which he loved. He ended up getting some socks, a dump truck and a basketball hoop...
We left Denison around 6:30 and thankfully the weather had cleared and the roads were clear as well. Thankfully I didn't go into early labor :)

Christmas Eve/Christmas Morning

Since i wasn't able to travel over Christmas Jesse and I as a family stayed in DSM. Christmas Eve I spent working since i wasn't able to get that day off. Thankfully I was able to leave a little early so I could spend more time with my family. We spent Christmas Eve attending our Church's Christmas Eve Service and then enjoyed a nice dinner before opening a couple of presents. Since Easton banked it with the presents this year...well i actually wrapped each present individually so ti looked like he got a lot of gifts...we decided to open half on Christmas Even and half on Christmas day morning. He was so excited.  I had no clue as to what Jesse was getting me. I had given him several small ideas which were good ideas but still had no clue as to what he was getting me. I ended up getting him his tux vest, my favorite cologne of all time for men and a pocket knife which was from Easton. Never even knew he wanted a pocket knife until he mentioned wanting one. He amazingly ended up getting me an IPAD...yes i said that correctly...an IPAD....at first he had me open a connector to it which i had no clue as to what it was so i was dumb founded....and then he actually brought out the present which wasn't under the tree. I was so excited...even though I think he'll get more use out of it than I will since he's constantly on the internet at night while we're watching tv. It was a great gift and an expensive gift. This Christmas was definitely an expensive one for us but a great one. I loved how excited Easton was to open his gifts. We actually had to baracaid the tree with the ottoman because all Easton wanted to do was open his gifts when it wasn't time to open them. Having the presents out around the tree definitely tempted and tested the little guy. He's at such a fun age right now. Everything was exciting to him and he loved all his gifts. I'm sure the years to come will be just as exciting since he'll be getting older and getting more excited about things.

Herman Christmas 2012

This year we celebrated my familes Christmas early due to me not being able to travel after December 11th. Only 4 more weeks to go until baby K makes his/her deput. So ready. Overall we all had a great time on the farm and spending some quality family time together. Was able to see Brooke play her first basketball game of the year and her scoring 1 of the only 2 points at the game....Easton got to ride in the tractor...we experienced our first snowfall of the season and all the cousins had a great time playing with one another...even had time to stop and see great Grandpa Wieczorek.

The trip back home was a bit stressful due to the blizzard conditions. Took us 3 hours to get to Sioux Falls...Ben and Stephs van's battery went out...just a bizarre case of events. Took us 9 hours to get home which should of only taken 5.5 hours. I actually did pretty well with not having to stop all the time and use the restroom and all the boys did fantastic considering the long drive. Christmas definitely was a success.

Bass Pro Shop/Santa

For family night one Sunday night we all loaded the boys up and took them to the Bass Pro shop to see Santa and ride the Caresal ride. They all loved it. A big hit as well was the race car track :)
