November 2013

Can you believe it's almost the Holiday season. Thanksgiving is just right around the corner. Crazy how fast this year has gone by and how my little baby is already almost 10 months old. Pretty soon we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday. I am a little behind on even getting his birthday party all prepared. Normally I spend months prior thinking about birthday parties but we've been so busy lately that I haven't even begun to think about it. I do have the theme though all picked out and it should end up being pretty cute.

The month of November is also a special month because it's Jesse's (daddy's) birthday. We celebrated Jesse's birthday by attending an Iowa Wild Hockey game on Saturday night. His friend Andrew from work and his brother who was in town visiting and Johan and Julie joined us for the event. This was the boys first professional hockey game. We've taken Easton to a couple of the Bucks games but never a semi professional game. It actually was pretty fun. Ace had a good time and actually sat pretty good during the game. Easton started to get bored after the second period. We ended up leaving during the 3 period just because the boys were restless and the Wild was losing anyways. Turned out to be a fun night out.

The boys have been doing really well at Daycare lately. Easton's little friend Braydon is back at daycare. He is a little boy who always tends to get him into trouble. Easton being the little follower he is tends to do it to himself but of course him only being 3 he doesn't know any better. I was thankful when Brayden did leave for that short period because Easton was doing so well not getting any time outs. Guess we'll have to see how these next couple of months go with Brayden back at daycare. Ace hasn't been as fussy either....so she says.....he's been napping better and playing better. He loves people food. She has given up on the whole baby food and has just let him eat with the older kids since he gets so mad when he sees the older kids eating and hes not.

11/09 - Our church Altoona United Methodist held their annual Thanksgiving dinner this weekend. Last year we were unable to attend due to celebrating Grady/Jace's birthday. This year we ended up going. Little did we know that waiting would be in store. The dinner was from 4-7. We got there around 5:30 and ended up waiting almost an hour an a half to get seated to eat. Next year if we go we will be planning on showing up around 4 so we won't have to wait in line so long. Thankfully the boys played rather well on the sanctuary stairs and were content with snacking on crackers while we waited. Amazingly enough the church ended up raising over 90K that went to building 2 homes for habitat for humanity and other charities.

We have carried on our usual family nights every Sunday night...switching off between our house and Stephs house. The boys just love getting together and playing. Easton waits all day on Sunday to see his cousins and then when he does see them he would rather play on his own at our house than actually play with Grady and Jace. It's not that way when we go to Steph's house..seems that he does better playing with them. Not sure why. Strange I know. It's so cute getting them all together..wild to say the least though. Definitely not quite in the house when we have 5 boys running around. It's always fun times getting together though and I wouldn't change a thing.

Ace is growing up so fast. He's gotten his second tooth this month. Extremely fussy when those teeth are coming in but I can not blame him because i'm sure they do hurt tremendously. He so far has his two bottom teeth. So cute when he smiles. I'm sure all his teeth will start coming now since normally babies have more than 1 or 2 teeth at his age. Guess he'll hopefully have good and healthy teeth when he grows up. Ace has also mastered standing on his own/alone this month. Won't be long now and he'll be walking soon. I'm fine with him just crawling at the moment...i'm not sure i'm ready to have him start walking just yet. Another milestone for him is saying DA DA. He has been saying MA MA for months now but hasn't said DA DA yet. Funny to because Easton said DA DA before he even said MA MA...guess this time around I get the first word..Ace know's who his favorite is.. :)

11/23 Blum Family Thanksgiving - this year Ann and Curly held Thanksgiving for the Blum side. I think it was held there last year as well and was suppose to be at Linda's house but she had surgery the day before so wasn't sure if she was going to be up for it. We ended up going down a little early and seeing Grandma and Grandpa Henningson and Grandma Brenda out at the house. It's always good to go back to Denison and make sure we see Great Grandma and Grandpa..it won't be too long and they wont' be around much longer since they are getting up in age. We take every opportunity to go back and see them when we are in town. The boys played well at the family get together. It's always fun getting together with the Blum side. They tend to spice things up a little since they are a drinking family. Also always good to see everyone whom we only see about once a year. All the kids are growing up so fast.

11/26 Kuehnhold Thanksgiving - this year we again decided to hold thanksgiving at our house. Steph and Ben decided that they were going stay at home and have a quiet day in decorating for Christmas. Paige/Tyler and Jamie and Brenda all made the trip to spend Thanksgiving with us. Brenda brought some salads and dessert while we made the Turkey and all the fixings. After we ate I put Jamie to work doing some things around the house. He hung the ceiling fan for us since it's been sitting in the basement for months with out even the thought of it being put up and I had him hang some curtain rods for me. Seems like whenever we get together..after we eat....Jamie passes out on the couch and sleeps the whole time. I told him that this was not the case and that he was going to enjoy some family time together...apparently  he loves doing things around the house....boy do I have tons more projects for him if that's the case. Steph and I did end up getting together later that afternoon to do some black Friday shopping. Now a days all the stores open on Thanksgiving. We started off at Walmart to get the LeapPad for Easton..no one told us that we had to have wrist bands in order to get them and that they were all sold out of wrist bands at 4pm even though Walmarts prices didn't start till 6pm. Would have been good to know. Since no other store was open till 8pm we decided to go and get some dinner at McDonalds and have a coffee. Steph was interested in a bigger tv and some other things at Target when I was interested in the LeapPad at Kohls. We did separate and did wait in lines even though neither of us brought a coat to wear out in the cold weather. Luckily it wasn't all that cold. Shopping was a blast. We had a ton of fun. Steph got everything she wanted and I ended up getting all that I wanted and then some. I spent 450 at Kohls..had 100 in gift cards..15% off which was 70 dollars and then we got 15 dollars for every 50 we spent so I technically only ended up spending 200 dollars I think when it was all said and done..not too shabby. We ended the night around midnight. I had to work the next morning so it was a good thing that we didn't stay out all night. Fun times though :)

The month of November has sure been a busy one. We are blessed beyond measure for family and our little boys. They bring such joys to our lives each and every day. I love watching Ace grow up and achieve new milestones and watching Easton learn new things...like his ABC's and counting to 10. He also knows Jesus Loves me and his ABC song. We try and sing it every night when I put him to bed. He has also fell in love with airplanes..you know boys...trains/plains/cars....boys dream for toys. Easton has fell in love with all three types of toys. He's at a fun stage. Talking up a storm and trying to carefully play with his brother even though he tends to be a little rough. You can tell he cares deeply for him and loves on him all the time!

October - 2013

This month is going to be a crazy month I think with it being fall and all. I love the fall time. I love how the trees turn colors and the feel of the fall weather since it's starting to get cooler out and bon fires are about to start. This month Easton and Ace visited the pumpkin patch twice. Once with Mindy, Ellie and Jill and another time with Aunt Steph and Ben and the boys. The one where we went with Aunt Steph and the boys was definitely way better than the one we went to with Mindy and Ellie. The boys had the best time. Just wish we would of gone earlier since there was so much to do their and they closed at 6 when we just had gotten there at 4. Definitely could have stayed longer. The boys were able to ride horses, play in the corn bin, play on a huge haystack, ride pedal pusher cars, road some go carts and were able to pick their own pumpkin. Even Ace and Dax had a good time and were actually really good. After the pumpkin patch we decided to go and get something to eat and ended up at Taco Johns. Ace was exhausted and fell asleep while eating

10/ 19-20 This month also Jesse and I were able to take our trip to Ikea with Johan and Julie. Jill watched the boys most of Saturday and then Grandma Brenda came down and watched the boys till we got back. Ikea was awesome and totally could have stayed there a lot longer but the boys and even Julie were snapping at the bit trying to get out of there because they wanted to go and watch the Iowa game. I guess I was really shocked when Julie didn't even want to shop. I did end up getting most of the things that I had wanted but could have spent way more time in there shopping. After Ikea we went to an Iowa bar where it was standing room only. Only lasted there till halftime since Julie and I were tired of standing. Back at the hotel we watched the game and took a little nap before dinner. Dinner was spent at a very expensive steak house in downtown MN...Rooths Cris. It was really good but when I seen the prices my jaw about dropped. Our meal alone was over 180 dollars with tip included. I don't think I've ever spent that much on a dinner for two in my life. Don't get me wrong..the food was pretty good but we probably won't be spending that much on just dinner in a long time. Drinks were even expensive. Overall we ended up having a good time away in MN and the boys did really well for Jill and Grandma Brenda.

10/24 Altoona United Methodist church every year holds a Halloween festival. We got the boys all dressed up..Easton was Iron man and Ace was a little dinasor. They looked so cute. After doing the churchs festival we went over to Clay Elementary where we did their little Halloween thing as well. They ended up getting a pretty good amount of candy. Ace wasn't too fond of the whole dinasour hat though.

10/25-27 Papa Chuck and Grandma Janelle were in town for Ace's dedication and all three of the older boys birthday parties. Decided to do them on the same weekend so our parents wouldn't have to travel so many weekends in October. Grady and Jace's party was held Saturday afternoon. Saturday morning we dressed all the kids up and took them to Indianola's Halloween event. Michelle even allowed all the girls to come and visit the boys. They had a lot of fun going from business to business collecting candy. After the festival we drove back home where mom and I got some things ready for Easton's party. Walmart forgot to give me Grady's gift so we had to go all the way back to West Des Moines and pick up another gift for Grady. It was nice that they gave it to me for free since I didn't even get the one I paid for. Grady and Jace's party was all themed around Paw Patrol. All three of the boys really love paw patrol and my sister did a great job. It was held in their youth room at church which was a great location since it always gets crowded when you do parties in your home. After the party we went home..mom came with us since I had so many things yet to do for Easton's party and Ace's dedication. We did get everything done though and in a timely fashion. Easton's party will be so cute.

10/27 Ace Dedication - AUMC only does dedications in the morning service or the 11 o'clock service. I opted to do the 11 o'clock service due to it being later and since everyone had to travel it gave them a couple of hours to do that. Everyone showed up as in family. Ace was very curious when we were up there about Pastor Johns go-tee. It was super funny how even during prayer Ace was trying to put his fingers in Pastor John's mouth and causing everyone to bust out laughing. The church even gave us a video of it because it was so funny. Pastor John told us he'd never forget that baby dedication and told us that Ace was a special little boy. Lunch after Ace's dedication turned out really good. Jesse smoked a pork shoulder which was fantastic. Family had a good time getting together and the weather was perfect for playing outside with light coats on. After lunch I started decorating for Easton's birthday party....his party was themed "CARS" since he loves Lighting Mcqueen and Mator. I even made little cars out of cardboard for races. It was the cutest thing ever and the kids loved racing around the front trees. Ava really turfed it and the yellow car didn't make it after that. What a great memory for Easton to have. Easton ended up getting a lot of fun gifts. Mostly tractors since his love for tractors has flourished. What a great weekend it ended up being. Everyone for the most part made it to Easton's birthday and it turned out amazing!!!! Cannot believe our little boy is already 3 years old...now to start planning for Ace's 1st birthday party

10/30 Trick or treating was spent in Vicky's neighborhood. The boys..Easton especially had a great time going door to door asking for candy. He was a little greedy when it came to only picking out one piece of candy. We decided not to do our neighborhood since the boys were tired and we hadnt' eaten anything yet. Overall it was a fun experience for both the boys

Ace - 1st time sick

Not to bad going 8 months with Ace not getting sick. Vicky called me saying Ace's fever was up to 102 this afternoon..of course I went home and picked him up and then Jesse stayed home the second day since he was still running a fever. Poor guy just didn't feel good at all. We've been pretty lucky though with sickness and all between the boys. Haven't really had to miss any work because of the boys being sick. Good thing to.

Dax's birthday weekend

Easton was super excited since Papa Chuck and Grandma Janelle were coming into town to help celebrate Dax's 1st birthday. It ended up being a nice weekend and we got to do a lot of hanging out with the grandparents. Ace even climbed the entire basement states for the first time...time to put up the baby gates I guess. Jesse was out of town for Mike and Jesse's wedding so we basically hung out at Steph and Ben's house most of the weekend. The weather was nice so we were able to go to the park and play outside. Dax had a really good 1st birthday...didn't know what to think about the cake but eventually he started digging his little fingers in it. Great weekend spent with family.

Early Mornings

Ace for some reason has been waking up really early these last couple of mornings. 5:30am comes really early even though my alarm goes off 10 minutes after he wakes up. Normally I would just let him cry but when I do that he tends to wake Easton up and well..that's not a good thing. I have caved and have started giving him a bottle where he'll eat and then go back to sleep. I don't like to get into that habit but if it makes him happy and gets him to go back to sleep...well it's worth it then. He's normally been really good about sleeping in unless he's not feeling good. I guess I can not complain when it comes to our boys sleeping all night long and sleeping in in the mornings

Iowa vs Iowa State

Today was the big game. Iowa vs Iowa state football. We dressed both of the boys in Hawkeye gear...Easton right now is loving everything Hawkeye..it's all he wants to wear these days. I did mohawks to both of the boys hair..it was really cute. The kids had a great time playing with all their friends at Glen and Sara's house. It was a fun get together. Only downfall is that Easton ended up getting sick during the night. Threw up twice actually . First time he's actually thrown up. Felt so bad for the little guy...he had no clue what was happening. Luckily we were able to stay home all day and let him rest and get better before daycare the next morning

Church Festival

Church festival today...bouncy houses, lunch, face painting, dunk tank and arts and crafts. Boys had a lot of fun. Was pretty warm outside. The sun definitely made the bouncy slide really warm. Ace definitely was not fond of it. Easton had a pretty good time and he even got to play at the dunk tank.

Drive in Theater

I enjoy doing things as a family. Tonight Jesse suggested at the last minute to go down to Newton to the drive in theater. I was all up for it. The weather was perfect and they were showing Planes and Despicable Me 2. Perfect movies for Easton. Jesse and I haven't been to the drive in since I was pregnant with Easton. Crazy how that's already been 3 years. Johan and Julie decided to take in the festivities with us. Johan drove his truck so we were able to sit in the bed of his truck and watch the movie. Easton even made new friends right beside us. Another family brought their 3 year old little boy and 15 month old little girl. They had the perfect set up...a blow up matress in the back of their pickup...equipped with snacks and everything. Easton loved it and actually sat with them for half of the first movie. After a while he was kind of getting a little bored so we had him sit back with us since he was up and moving around. The only draw back to the movie night is that Easton accidentally pooped his pants and he got a bloody nose somehow...not sure where the bloody nose came from...thankfully i had extra underwear and pants for him. Jesse just through his soiled underwear in the bean field..lol...

The night was perfect and both boys were great. Ace wasn't even fussy and actually did go to sleep while we were in the middle of the second movie. We didn't stay for the entire second movie just because it was getting late. Overall the night was fun and we'll definitely have to do it again next summer.

Grandma Brenda in Town

I orginally had taken Thursday and Friday off since Vicky was on vacation due to her daughter getting married. Instead of taking the time off i did ask Angie if she could watch the boys. She was able to but then come to find out that Brenda's hours were cut back at work. I'd rather have the boys spend time with their grandma then with another provider. We asked Brenda to come down to watch the boys Thursday and Friday. The boys had a blast. The weather was a little warm but that didn't keep them from playing outside and having fun. It's such a great feeling knowing your babies are in the safest hands possible other than your own. I was so thankful that they got to spend these two days with their Grandma Brenda. I did end up leaving early Friday so Brenda could get on the road sooner since i know how she doesn't like driving in city traffic. Easton was sad to see her go. Love how he loves his grandparents

Ace and his fussyness

Poor little Ace has just not been having the best days at daycare. He's like a roller coaster. One day will be perfect and then the next day a complete cry fest. Just saddens me when Vicky tells me he's been crying all day. Most of the time he'll cry himself to sleep if he's being super fussy with her. Just hate the fact that he has to be constantly put to bed if he's having a bad day. I know what it's like when he's super fussy and I too put him to bed and he'll fuss himself to sleep. Just wish we knew if he was in pain or getting teeth. I'm tired of always blaming his fussyness on his teeth. He so far hasn't had any pop through nor does it look like any is to pop through. Guess this faze shall too pass but it's so hard to find out that he's been so fussy all day long. Poor guy.....

Boys are growing up so fast

My baby is getting so big. I cannot believe he is already almost 8 months old. Crazy how time flys. He has grown into such a little cutie with a big personality. When he is mad you know he is mad. His schrill could break glass. He loves crawling all over to get toys..smiles at everything and anything...not afraid of strangers....loves being held....hates being left alone.

Easton especially loves on his brother..not only giving him hugs and kisses but also tackling him to the ground and trying to play with him. We constantly have to remind him to be gentle with him since he is just a little guy. One of these days Ace is going to grow up to be bigger than Easton and he'll get his chance then to beat up on him for a change.

We have such cute little boys. Who would of thought we'd produce such amazing little guys with such lovable personalitys. Love them to death!

I-cubs game

First I-Cubs game for us as a family. My work was kind enough to schedule a work outing..they gave us free tickets and 10 dollars in cubby dollars. The weather was perfect. Jesse decided to invite his co-worker as well. We ended up sitting in Interstate Batteries seats instead of with my work. Seats were better. Ace lasted as long as he could. Easton loved playing in the fountains. Around 8:00 Ace started falling apart and just crying...of course it was his bedtime so he was extremely tired and didn't get a nap after daycare. We ended up leaving the game early since he was so fussy. Overall it was a pretty good night and the weather was beautiful

Easton - Potty Training/Trained

I can not believe it...Easton is finally ready to be potty trained. We haven't been really working with him on the whole potty training. Just asking him now and then if he wants to use the big boy potty. Sometimes he says yes and sometimes he says no....we don't push the issue. I keep telling him though that when he turns 3 that diapers will be going away...i'm not sure if he understands that but he'll say it back to me when i ask him what happens when he turns 3.

Friday morning....August 2nd....i had the day off to go garage saling. I woke Easton up and all of a sudden he wanted to be a big boy and wear big boy underwear and go in the big boy potty. From this morning on we have not looked back. He has done exceptionally well. No accidents at daycare other than one poopy pants. Does not pee at naptime...always goes when Vicky tells him...He has done so well at home as well. We do have to ask him if he needs to go..he hasn't quite gotten down him knowing when he needs to go. He has had a couple of accidents at home but that is just because he's playing to hard outside and forgets to go. He'll go on the driveway and immediately tell us that he peed on the driveway and that he's dirty. He did have an accident when we were just about ready to get in the car for church. He had pooped his pants..thankfully he hadn't done it in the nursery. Other than that...he is doing so well. I am so thankful that this process hasn't been all that hard. He even goes poopy in the potty now with out telling us. He's becoming such a big boy. One time he did try and stand up like daddy and got pee EVERYWHERE..even on the walls....and his cousins have now taught him that it's ok to pee outside in the grass...too funny....I can finally say....our little guy is potty trained....he's now ready for preschool since you have to be potty trained before you go off to school. So proud of him :) He does love his treats though every time he goes :)

Back up Daycare Provider

Finally found a great back up day care provider referred to us by Vicky..our current daycare provider. Vicky took one of her vacation days and I didn't want to take vacation nor did Jesse so we decided to call Angie and ask her if she could watch the boys. I dropped the boys off in the morning..they were a little skiddish at first but warmed right up when they seen all the toys. Angie texted me through out the day to let me know how they were doing. They were great she stated. Makes a momma proud knowing her boys are being well behaved for strangers. I had to leave Easton's car seat due to Angie transporting to and from school. Everything worked out great. The boys loved it there and they both were really good for her. I was kind of nervous about Ace but he did awesome. Easton didn't even want to leave when i came to pick him up. I literally had to carry him out crying..poor guy...he had a lot of fun with his new friends and new toys. At least now i have a reliable back up daycare provider who i can trust and who the boys have a good time with.

Lowered Crib

Finally lowered Ace's crib tonight. He has begun learning how to pull himself up in his bed. I could forsee an accident waiting to happen. The little pickle will just stand there and give you the biggest smile ever when you walk into the room. I figured it was coming soon....just reminds me that my little baby is growing up and soon he'll be walking. Wish time would slow down a bit so I can enjoy him as a baby that much longer.

Friends Get Together

Had the girls and their families over for some pictures. Sara and Katie have been wanting me to take pictures of their little girls. I was super excited since i'm so used to taking pictures of little boys. Girls would be some what of a change for me. They provided dinner while I took their pictures. Some of them turned out super cute. Sara even brought balloons over so we could get some with Emma for her birthday invitation. It definitely is harder to take pictures of older babies since they want to crawl everywhere. We did get some good ones and had fun. Matt and Ashley were in town so they stopped by as well as did Ben and Johan and Julie. It was good having a little get together and the weather was perfect for a night outside doing a bonfire. After everyone left...Ben and Jesse and I stayed outside for a little while. After I went to bed they decided to go up to the neighbors and have a good time with them..too good of a time i'd say since they didn't get back home till after 3. Apparently they make moonshine up there....Jesse said never again..lol...

Iowa State Fair 2013

Iowa State fair is finally here. Seems like everyone waits for this time of year. Honestly i do not think there is anything special about the fair. Don't get me wrong..i love going for the foods on a stick. This year I didn't even get to have my usual corn dog. I opted for the Gyro instead. Me and the boys only attended the fair once this year. We always come the night before the tracter pull since Jesse takes the day off for the tractor pull. This year he decided against staying in the camper. We met Johan and Julie there as well as Katie, Luke and the girls. Ended up just walking around for a bit...seeing the animals...getting our cookies like we do every year and then hanging out at the camper for a while. Jesse this year did take Easton on the Sky line that goes across the fair grounds. He loved that. The weather this year for the fair was amazing. Coolest year yet since i've been. Most years it's so unbearably hot that you don't want to walk around for hours...this year was amazing...it was almost too cool for Ace. He could of had pants and a light jacket with the breeze. Overall the fair was the fair...same o'l same o'l....

Blanks Park Zoo and Splash park

Since the weather was so nice and Jesse had plans on brewing beer all day...the boys and I headed out to meet Steph R and Abram at the zoo. We haven't been to the zoo this year yet and Easton was so excited to see all the animals. Couldn't of asked for a better day/weather. It wasn't too awefully hot or cold..perfect. Both Abram and Easton did so well and had a ton of fun. Ace even did really well just being in the stroller for a couple of hours. Easton was able to feed the parakeets and ride a camel. Normally i wouldn't pay to ride the camel just because it's 5 dollars a person for only seconds on the camel but i decided to cave and give in. We actually ran into my sister's family and Bens parents. They were in town for the weekend so they took the whole family to the zoo. Easton was super excited to see them. He wanted to go with them the whole time but I told him that he gets to see Grady and Jace all the time..never Abram. After we seen the whole zoo we decided to take the boys to the splash pad. We first went home to Stephs house for a while so the boys could take some naps. Only her little guy was able to take a nap. Both my boys slept in the car on the way over to Stephs but then wouldn't go back to sleep when we got there. After about an hour Abram woke up and we headed to the splash pad. It was perfect. Not too many people were there and it was just enough for Easton to play in. Abram you can tell will definitely be a water baby/boy...he loved the water. Ace wasn't too sure...he's just not into the cold water yet. It ended up being a long day and we didn't get home till after 4. Overall the boys and i had a great time spending the day with Steph and Abram. Tonight....Julie and Johan came over for dinner. Easton loves getting to hang out with Johan..he's always asking to go and see him

Ace's first cold

Poor Ace developed his very first cold today. Several of the kids at daycare have been having runny noses and coughing so of course little Ace would caught the same thing. poor guy just isn't doing well at daycare or sleeping well with being sick. Hopefully he gets over it pretty quick and back to normal.

Henningson Reunion

Henningson family reunion is today. It is always the first Sunday in August. We try and make it back every year just so we can see people who we haven't seen i a while. Normally Jason and his family come as well but this year decided against making the trip. Easton usually has a lot of fun playing with his cousins but this year he really didn't know anyone so it took him quite a bit of time to warm up to running around with all the little kids. We got to Denison around noon and headed over to the renunion. We didn't stay too long. Was able to see Grandma and Grandpa Henningson and see Grandma Brenda and Aunt Paige. It's been a while since everyone has seen Ace..he definitely has grown since the last time we were in town. After the reunion we headed over to Amy's dads house to pick some fresh farm grown vegetables from the garden. We got sweet corn, green peppers, onions and cucumbers. Fresh grown vegetables are always way better than store boughten. Since we took Easton's 9 month pictures at the state park there in Denison I wanted to head back over there to get some pictures of Ace on the same bridge. I actually was able to get a couple good ones of both the boys together. Easton would do anything for a piece of candy....including taking pictures. Crazy boy. After pictures we had a good time playing in the water with Grandma Brenda and Aunt Paige and Tyler. Easton had a great time splashing grandma and paige. Ace didn't think the water was all that great....probably because it was too cold. Since it was getting late and we still wanted to stop and see Tom and Marla...we said our goodbyes and headed over to their house for dinner and some chatting. We didn't leave Denison until after 7. Thankfully Ace slept the whole way and Easton watched movies the whole way home. Ended up being a great day. The weather was perfect :)

Warren County Fair

For family night Indianola was having their county fair. Easton was so excited to go to the county fair and see the animals and get to see Grady and Jace. I've never been to the Warren County Fair. It was actually pretty fun. It was smaller than what we're used to but the boys had a great time riding a couple of rides and seeing all the animals. Even Ace did a great job being in the stroller for a couple of hours. The boys also got to ride miniture ponies..

Easton had never been on a carnival ride. We chose a car ride and then a little miniture roller coaster. After the car ride, i had to pry Easton off the car. He did not want to leave. I'm sure he could have road that little ride all night long. We then took them on the little miniture roller coaster. Jace and Easton barely made the height cut off. The whole ride...you could hear them laughing and having a good time. It was so cute and I even got it on video. All three boys loved that little ride.

Steph and I even got to ride the Zipper. Growing up the zipper was our favorite ride ever. I cannot actually believe that it's still a ride at the fairs now a days. Even though my stomach was a little upset...i still decided to ride. We ended up riding with two of their girls that attend their church. I rode with one and steph rode with the other. I think our bucket spinned the entire time. It was crazy. I was so ready to get off since all we did was spin. Ugh...but it was so fun.

We all had a great time at the Warren County Fair

Easton and Mommy Date Night

Since we didn't have any plans scheduled for tonight. I decided to take Easton to his very first big screen movie in the park. Pleasant Hill at Copper Creek was having a free movie night at the park. They were showing a bugs life. The weather was perfect and Easton was so thrilled to be going to a park to watch a movie. He was just mesmorzied at the big screen, the free popcorn and the fireworks show after the movie. He actually sat and watched the entire movie. I was so proud of him. Normally he doesn't have the attention span for those kinds of things but he did so good. After the movie they had a fireworks show which was awesome. We sat by the lake and took in all the cool fireworks. It was almost better than the actual 4th of July fireworks Altoona put on. We both had an awesome time and it was the perfect night for a mommy and easton date.

The Boys

Is my baby really going to start crawling soon. Ace has mastered getting up on all 4's and even starting to scoot backwards. I cannot believe at a little over 6 months he is on his way to crawling. Easton took forever to finally crawl. I don't think I'm ready to have Ace start crawling yet. That means i have to go through the entire house and baby proof it, put up baby gates and watch him more closely as to what he's going to get in to. Right now he's so easy because he just sits there and cannot move...oh boy....things are going to change when he really gets the nack of crawling. So exciting :)

Poor Easton has been struggling at daycare lately. Vicky says he is such a follower. One little boy in particular is getting Easton in trouble all the time. It's not the little boy getting him in trouble...it's Easton following whatever the every Brayden does which gets him in trouble. The other day Vicky took them both into the bathroom to go potty since they were both starting to potty train...well she left them alone and after a few seconds could hear them laughing and just having fun...she proceeded to go in to the bathroom and here they both were with their hands arms length in the toilet splashing the water out. Thankfully neither of them had used the actual bathroom yet but still..apparently water was everywhere. Both boys were in trouble and were unable to play outside and had to take their naps early. Hopefully Easton will realize that following Brayden will result in him always getting in trouble. Maybe he'll learn that he needs to do his own thing and be a leader and not a follower. He normally does excellent at daycare...

Easton had his very first dream the other night. Now that we got Ace sleeping through the night...of course the other one would have to wake up. I woke up to Easton crying...i went in there and asked him what was wrong and all he said was...it's scary...it's scary...I asked him what was scary and he pointed over by his little table...all he kept saying was..it's scary mom...it's scary...i told him that he had a dream and that dreams aren't real and to try and go back to sleep. Thankfully he didn't wake up Ace and was able to go back to sleep. The next morning the first thing he said to me was "dream was scary mom...really scary". I didn't think they remembered their dreams but apparently Easton did and all he says now is dream was scary....poor guy.

Ace is loving actual real food. He has such strong chompers that it makes me nervous giving him real people food since he can chomp them off in big pieces. He's tried so far..string cheese, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, green beans, pizza, scrambled eggs, banana's, apples, peaches, spaghetti, chicken, steak and pork...he really liked the corn on the cob. He tends to gag on everything which i think is normal but it still makes me so nervous. Easton was a choker when he started real food...i am almost certain Ace will be a choker as well.

Ace sleeping through the night finally

Finally after 6 months Ace has started sleeping through the night. Jesse and I have had several ruff nights having to get up multiple times during the night to feed Ace or console him if he woke up and wasn't able to get back to sleep. Since i am still nursing i'm mainly the one that has to get up with Ace. He is taking a bottle really well and is on formula so Jesse is able to get up with him as well if need be. It's been a while since i've had a complete nights rest. So it's been nice to be able to put him down around 8:30/9 and have him sleep until 7am. Easton was the same way...seems like when 6 months hit he was sleeping through the night as well. Wonder what it is with the whole 6 month time frame. Just thankful now that both Jesse and I are able to actually get a full nights rest.

Mini getaway trip for Jesse and I to Boston/New Hampshire/Maine 2013

Amazingly enough....Jesse actually won an all expense paid trip for him and a guest to attend the Loudon New Hampshire Nascar Race. Interstate Batteries sponsors Kyle Bush and the Interstate car. Jesse had put his name in months before and two people from the company get picked to go to every race the Interstate car races in. I was actually really shocked when he called and told me he had been picked. Interstate only pays for his way there, hotel and food..the other party has to purchase their own plane tickets/hotel and food. I definitely wasn't going to pass this trip up. I'm sure Johan would have enjoyed going to the race more than I would have and plus it fell over his birthday weekend but the wife gets first dibs on going...lol...

Interstate arranged all our hotel stay while in Loudon and purchased our plane tickets. I researched and found the best deal on the plane tickets and just gave Andrew (head of marketing) the flight numbers and such. We decided to fly out of Omaha since my sister agreed to watch the boys while we were gone and meeting in Onawa is half way for both of us. Little did I realize that we were only 30 minutes from Sioux City and should have flown out of Sioux City so we wouldn't of had another 1 hour drive back to Omaha. Everything worked out great though with the way it was set up. Jesse and I met my sister and mom in Onawa on Saturday July 13th at 9am. Our flight was suppose to take off around 1 so we wanted to be back on the road no later than 10 to make it to Omaha with enough time. We got all the boys dropped off and all their stuff. I had started telling Easton a week before that he was going to grandma's house and was going to get to ride in the tractor and see the cows..he was super excited and had no problems going with Michelle and Mom.

Jesse and I headed back to Omaha and got our luggage checked and found our gate. Come to find out after sitting there and realizing we should have been boarding/taking off when we figured out our flight was delayed to mechanical issues. Since our first flight was delayed..that means we would miss our connecting flight in MN. We were not happy since we were suppose to be getting into Boston around 7 already and having to get the rental car and another 1 drive to our hotel. With our flight delayed that would put us in Boston even later. Luckily we were able to get on the next flight to Boston out of MN. We had a couple hour layover in MN which wasn't all that bad. The flight itself wasn't horrible. We finally arrived in Boston around 11pm...got our luggage which thankfully didnt' get lost...headed to the rental area...got all that squared away and finally was on our way to our hotel. Little did we know that Boston has several tunnels and such and our GPS wouldn't work. It was not a fun and smooth time trying to find our way out of Boston. Between being super tired and knowing we wouldn't get to our hotel till after 1am and then having to be up at 4am to be ready by 5am...it just wasn't fun. We finally got it figured out and GPS running and actually found the hotel that was set up for us in Bow New Hampshire. Morning was about to come super early.

Sunday July 14th - Going on no sleep and super tired made it for a long morning. We met the crew in the hotel lobby around 5:15...got some instructions and then followed everyone to the actual nascar track. Our duties were to hang banners/posters up in the hospitality tent and then to hand out hats and goodie bags to everyone that was invited to the Interstate tent. I ended up getting to know Jesse's co-worker Dustins girlfriend pretty well. She seemed really nice. We mainly worked together for the most part. The Dallas girls were not that friendly at all it seemed. The morning went by fast. We got everything hung up and looking good. It was around 8:30 when people started to arrive. I had to pump so i chose to pump in the restroom while we were waiting around. It wasn't the cleanest thing to do but it got the job done. Pumping is sure going to be a challenge on this trip. I almost thought about giving up nursing but then decided against it since I still enjoyed that bonding time with Ace....anyways.....back to the race.....It was amazing how many crazy people showed up at the tent. We were thinking to ourselves..how do these people get invited. They are crazy hillbillies..lol...Kyle Bush did end up showing up and talking as well as the owner of the Interstate Car. We never got to meet him or get an autograph but that's ok. Jesse isn't a fan of Kyle Bush anyways. Overall the morning was fun. We got tired and it was kind of hot out. Around 12:30 we finally started cleaning up and taking down the banners/posters. I held on to some pendants since Easton's theme for his birthday party is going to be nascar. Thought they'd look good for his party. Around 1:00 we were done and the race was about to start. We all headed down to the grandstands and found our seats. It was so unbearably hot outside and with sitting on metal bleachers and with the asphalt it was crazy hot. Since we were so tired Jesse and I ended up only staying till lap 75 out of 300. Someone had also told him that if you stay till the end it takes about 3-4 hours of sitting in traffic just to get out. We surely didn't want to endure that since we were both so tired. After we left the race and found our way back to the hotel we ended up taking a 3-4 hour nap and then going to dinner in Concord New Hampshire. The food was really good actually. We got to talking at the table and realized that we were only an hour or so away from Maine. I have always wanted to go to Maine. It's beautiful up there. We got some advise on what towns/beaches to visit and did our research back at the hotel. Thankfully we were looking forward to sleeping in on Monday morning since we didn't get much sleep at all yet.

Monday, July 15th
Jesse and I actually got to sleep in this morning. It felt so nice. Even though we didn't sleep in long since we had planned to travel to Maine for the day we still got a little extra sleep. Driving to Maine was a breeze. It only took us an hour to get to where we had planned to go. Our waiter at the restraurant gave us several options on the best beaches in Maine to go and see. We finally chose York Beach in Maine. It had an actual beach and it had the worlds most photographed light house. Maine and New Hampshire have so many toll roads it's unbelievable. We ended up missing a toll road on the way there so i'm sure we'll end up getting a ticket in the mail sometime soon. HOpefully not. Maine was absolutely gorgeous. The light house was breath taking. The beaches were awesome. The sand was so different. YOu didn't sink when you walked on the sand..it was hard but still sand. There were so many people there it was crazy. I could have stayed on the beach forever but we had an agenda for the day so we could only visit for a couple of hours. I would so go back again and have always wanted to go to Maine so I was thankful that Jesse agreed to driving an hour and going and visiting Maine at least. At least we can say we have been to Maine. We decided to leave around noon. Our afternoon was packed with other places to visit in Boston. We toured the USS Constitution which was neat, walked some of the Freedom Trail, climbed 300 stairs up the Bunker Hill Monument. I barely made it up that since we had been going all morning and we hadn't eaten anything. It did have a magnificent view though. Too bad we couldn't stay up there longer..it was just too hot and way too many people. The climb back down was better. After doing all that we proceeded to get on the fairy and head downtown. Once we were downtown we got stopped by the street performers. Crazy enough Jesse and I both got picked to be part of their street forming acts and even got it on video. Pretty cool stuff. They definitely are some pretty talented individuals. Around dinner time we decided to head back to our hotel. Billy was picking us up after he got off work to take us to his house wo we could see Julie and the kids. We had a fun time getting together for a couple of hours. We didn't end up leaving till around 11 which put us back at the hotel around 11:30. Thankfully we have another full day here in Boston and we get to sleep in again

Tuesday, July 16th.
Billy took some of the day off so he could show us around Boston alittle. Basically the day was spent was walking around and going to different pubs and having a beer at each one. I of course didn't have a beer at each pub. The boys took a picture every time we visited a new pub and sent it to Johan to make him jealous. It actually was pretty funny. Billy took us around Harvard, we got to experience the sub way system, visited the CHEERS bar and got to walk around downtown Boston. After touring Boston Billy took us to their favorite sushi spot where we had some amazing sushi..so much better than Iowa's any day. I was in heaven. We had a great day but it was really exhausting after we were done. We ended up basically relaxing the rest of the night. It ended up raining so there wasn't much to do anyways and the fairy shuts down at 8 so we wouldn't of been able to get back to our hotel even if we had wanted to go out and do something.

Wednesday, July 17th.
Had to get up around 2:30 to make it to the airport since our flight was leaving around 6:00am. Tiring day forsure. I was so excited to get back to the boys. Apparently the boys did great at Aunt Michelle's and grandmas house. Ace even slept all through the night all nights he was there...man..wish he'd do that for us when we're home. I'm glad the boys were well behaved and had fun. When we got into Omaha we drove back to Onawa and met them. Easton of course didn't want to leave at first. Cried even because he wanted to go back home with Miley. Poor guy..he just loves the farm so much. The drive back was aweful. We were both so exhausted. Luckily we got home in one piece and the boys did great on the travels back. It was so good to see them both. I actually did pretty well being away from Ace the whole time. I definitely slacked on my pumping and hopefully that didn't hinder my production in any ways.

Overall the trip was well worth every penny. It was good to get away with just Jesse and enjoy getting to see new things we haven't seen before.

Golfing

Since Jesse has been working for Interstate batteries he is able to schedule times at Beaver Creek Golf Course for free. He can take one guest and golf either 9 holes or 18. This weekend he decided to take me golfing. I of couse haven't golfed since high school. I had to borrower Julies golf clubs. We were able to get Julie and Johan to babysit. Overall we had a good time. It was so hot outside though so that made it a little unbearing to say the least. I of course sucked at golfing and could barely hit the ball. I did seem to get better as the day went on. We ended up only golfing 9 holes and did one or two on the other course just because Jesse hadn't been on that course before. Jesse did pretty good considering he's been golfing several times already.

Daddy Duty

Well since Vicky decided to take the day after the 4th of July off and I wasn't able to take off work since so many people were off work already..it was up to Jesse to play daddy for the entire day. He's only been alone with both boys for a couple of hours at a time..not a whole day. Luckily both boys slept in till 9:30 since we had such a late night the night before. Apparently both boys did wonderful for him. Both napped and weren't all that fussy. He was even able to get dinner on the table..I could get used to that :). He did a great job with both boys and I knew he could do it.

4th of July 2013

For the 4th of July a bunch of us got together (Katie/Luke, Glen/Sara, Johan/Julie) Wednesday night the 3rd and hung out in the parking lot of a school while we waited for Altoona's fireworks to start. We grilled and did some fireworks. Had a lot of fun. Easton this year actually got into doing sparklers and the little snakes. Couldn't do much else with fireworks since we were in city limits and it's against the law in Iowa. Ace did really well with not being that fussy and also did well with the noise of the fireworks. Had a great time with friends. Easton also enjoyed staying up way past his bedtime. He was still going strong at 11:30 when we finally got home.

For the 4th the boys and I joined my sister in Indianola and swam at the aquatics center and also attended Indianola's 4th of July celebration. Jesse joined us later for dinner and the fireworks. Indianola definitely has a great fireworks production and they also lit up some hot air balloons..had bouncy houses and food. Definitely a good time. I'm sure we will be attending that every year hopefully since it was such a good time and the boys loved it.
