November 2013

Can you believe it's almost the Holiday season. Thanksgiving is just right around the corner. Crazy how fast this year has gone by and how my little baby is already almost 10 months old. Pretty soon we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday. I am a little behind on even getting his birthday party all prepared. Normally I spend months prior thinking about birthday parties but we've been so busy lately that I haven't even begun to think about it. I do have the theme though all picked out and it should end up being pretty cute.

The month of November is also a special month because it's Jesse's (daddy's) birthday. We celebrated Jesse's birthday by attending an Iowa Wild Hockey game on Saturday night. His friend Andrew from work and his brother who was in town visiting and Johan and Julie joined us for the event. This was the boys first professional hockey game. We've taken Easton to a couple of the Bucks games but never a semi professional game. It actually was pretty fun. Ace had a good time and actually sat pretty good during the game. Easton started to get bored after the second period. We ended up leaving during the 3 period just because the boys were restless and the Wild was losing anyways. Turned out to be a fun night out.

The boys have been doing really well at Daycare lately. Easton's little friend Braydon is back at daycare. He is a little boy who always tends to get him into trouble. Easton being the little follower he is tends to do it to himself but of course him only being 3 he doesn't know any better. I was thankful when Brayden did leave for that short period because Easton was doing so well not getting any time outs. Guess we'll have to see how these next couple of months go with Brayden back at daycare. Ace hasn't been as fussy either....so she says.....he's been napping better and playing better. He loves people food. She has given up on the whole baby food and has just let him eat with the older kids since he gets so mad when he sees the older kids eating and hes not.

11/09 - Our church Altoona United Methodist held their annual Thanksgiving dinner this weekend. Last year we were unable to attend due to celebrating Grady/Jace's birthday. This year we ended up going. Little did we know that waiting would be in store. The dinner was from 4-7. We got there around 5:30 and ended up waiting almost an hour an a half to get seated to eat. Next year if we go we will be planning on showing up around 4 so we won't have to wait in line so long. Thankfully the boys played rather well on the sanctuary stairs and were content with snacking on crackers while we waited. Amazingly enough the church ended up raising over 90K that went to building 2 homes for habitat for humanity and other charities.

We have carried on our usual family nights every Sunday night...switching off between our house and Stephs house. The boys just love getting together and playing. Easton waits all day on Sunday to see his cousins and then when he does see them he would rather play on his own at our house than actually play with Grady and Jace. It's not that way when we go to Steph's house..seems that he does better playing with them. Not sure why. Strange I know. It's so cute getting them all together..wild to say the least though. Definitely not quite in the house when we have 5 boys running around. It's always fun times getting together though and I wouldn't change a thing.

Ace is growing up so fast. He's gotten his second tooth this month. Extremely fussy when those teeth are coming in but I can not blame him because i'm sure they do hurt tremendously. He so far has his two bottom teeth. So cute when he smiles. I'm sure all his teeth will start coming now since normally babies have more than 1 or 2 teeth at his age. Guess he'll hopefully have good and healthy teeth when he grows up. Ace has also mastered standing on his own/alone this month. Won't be long now and he'll be walking soon. I'm fine with him just crawling at the moment...i'm not sure i'm ready to have him start walking just yet. Another milestone for him is saying DA DA. He has been saying MA MA for months now but hasn't said DA DA yet. Funny to because Easton said DA DA before he even said MA MA...guess this time around I get the first word..Ace know's who his favorite is.. :)

11/23 Blum Family Thanksgiving - this year Ann and Curly held Thanksgiving for the Blum side. I think it was held there last year as well and was suppose to be at Linda's house but she had surgery the day before so wasn't sure if she was going to be up for it. We ended up going down a little early and seeing Grandma and Grandpa Henningson and Grandma Brenda out at the house. It's always good to go back to Denison and make sure we see Great Grandma and Grandpa..it won't be too long and they wont' be around much longer since they are getting up in age. We take every opportunity to go back and see them when we are in town. The boys played well at the family get together. It's always fun getting together with the Blum side. They tend to spice things up a little since they are a drinking family. Also always good to see everyone whom we only see about once a year. All the kids are growing up so fast.

11/26 Kuehnhold Thanksgiving - this year we again decided to hold thanksgiving at our house. Steph and Ben decided that they were going stay at home and have a quiet day in decorating for Christmas. Paige/Tyler and Jamie and Brenda all made the trip to spend Thanksgiving with us. Brenda brought some salads and dessert while we made the Turkey and all the fixings. After we ate I put Jamie to work doing some things around the house. He hung the ceiling fan for us since it's been sitting in the basement for months with out even the thought of it being put up and I had him hang some curtain rods for me. Seems like whenever we get together..after we eat....Jamie passes out on the couch and sleeps the whole time. I told him that this was not the case and that he was going to enjoy some family time together...apparently  he loves doing things around the house....boy do I have tons more projects for him if that's the case. Steph and I did end up getting together later that afternoon to do some black Friday shopping. Now a days all the stores open on Thanksgiving. We started off at Walmart to get the LeapPad for Easton..no one told us that we had to have wrist bands in order to get them and that they were all sold out of wrist bands at 4pm even though Walmarts prices didn't start till 6pm. Would have been good to know. Since no other store was open till 8pm we decided to go and get some dinner at McDonalds and have a coffee. Steph was interested in a bigger tv and some other things at Target when I was interested in the LeapPad at Kohls. We did separate and did wait in lines even though neither of us brought a coat to wear out in the cold weather. Luckily it wasn't all that cold. Shopping was a blast. We had a ton of fun. Steph got everything she wanted and I ended up getting all that I wanted and then some. I spent 450 at Kohls..had 100 in gift cards..15% off which was 70 dollars and then we got 15 dollars for every 50 we spent so I technically only ended up spending 200 dollars I think when it was all said and done..not too shabby. We ended the night around midnight. I had to work the next morning so it was a good thing that we didn't stay out all night. Fun times though :)

The month of November has sure been a busy one. We are blessed beyond measure for family and our little boys. They bring such joys to our lives each and every day. I love watching Ace grow up and achieve new milestones and watching Easton learn new things...like his ABC's and counting to 10. He also knows Jesus Loves me and his ABC song. We try and sing it every night when I put him to bed. He has also fell in love with airplanes..you know boys...trains/plains/cars....boys dream for toys. Easton has fell in love with all three types of toys. He's at a fun stage. Talking up a storm and trying to carefully play with his brother even though he tends to be a little rough. You can tell he cares deeply for him and loves on him all the time!
